Finished Dead Dough

Dead Dough (Decorative Bread)
Hey,

Finally finished my piece today. I had specks of flour showing from rolling and shaping, so sprayed it with Food Lustre, which gives it the shine.

YES, its bread.

This piece is made from dead dough which is like edible play dough and used mainly for  bread showpieces. Made from regular bread ingredients like flour, salt, sugar,  syrup (in place of water) and food spices (depending on the color needed). For instance, the black dough was made with dark cocoa powder, which gives it the color; yellow was made with turmeric; Red with beet powder; and so on.

The most frustrating part of the piece was weaving (red and black net in the center). You have to work quickly before the dough dries. If that happens, its starts to crack or sometimes breaks, which means you have to try replacing the broken piece without destroying what you have already done or you just start all over (I did like 3 times). Easy components were the base, sun and the flowers & roses... The leaves, flowers and roses were really easy, mainly because I found a way of making 2 roses out of 1.

In-case you were wondering, I stuck the pieces on with syrup and let it dry over the weekend. It still has to dry some more but once its dry, it a showpiece that will last a lifetime.
